The power metal band Beholder was founded in 1998 with the purpose of participating in the Italian national contest Emergenza Rock. The first line-ups changed multiple times during several stages of the event, until the semi-finals. Patrignani, with the stage name Patrick Wire, was the only founding member left when the band, one year later, entered the studio to record its first demo. After three demos and many gigs, Beholder got a record deal offer from Dragonheart Records (Audioglobe). They published 3 records between 2000 and 2004, and performed on stage at various festivals, including the Gods of Metal in 2001 (on the same stage with Megadeth, Judas Priest, Rhapsody, and others), and the Agglutination Metal Fest in 2003 (with Virgin Steele and Pino Scotto).
The band broke up in 2004.
Patrignani is credited in several records published by other bands, under both given and stage name.
